My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In the wake of WWII, Juliet begins letter correspondence with a stranger from the island of Guernsey. Through their letters, she learns about all the interesting people who live there. She learns about their creativity and their spirit, about “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,” and what their experiences during the way. All of these stories eventually lead her to the story of one person. A person whose bravery will surprise and change her.
I’ll be honest, the format of this novel (almost completely letters) was a little hard for me to get used to. I suggest you write down the names of each character and who they are so that you remember. Because I had the hardest time.
Once I could actually remember who the characters were, I really enjoyed this book. Each of the characters seemed like real people. Their experiences were so sad and very powerful.
