book box subscription review

Victorian Classics! Spearcraft box review – July 2017

In my quest to find my favorite book subscription boxes, I tried a couple more in July, including the SpearCraft box.

Here is what the July 2017 Spearcraft book subscription box contained!

(Click away if you don’t want to see spoilers for the July box!)

Box: Spearcraft

Cost: $29.99, plus shipping (Shipping to North Carolina was $9.99. You can often find discount codes through their reps on Instagram.)

Each month’s box fits a particular theme. This month’s theme was “Victorian Classics.”

(There are no listed price values for each item, so I had to do some searching and guessing.)

The BookThe Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee – Value $13.29 on Amazon. (With book cover card and signed book plate.)

Bronze key key chain (yes, two “keys” are needed right there) with little quote – Value $3?

“If adventure will not befall a young lady in her own village, she must seek them abroad.” -Jane Austen

Jane Austen playing cards – Value $5?

I can tell the quality on these isn’t super high, but still cute.

Picture of Dorian Gray match box – Value $3 from HereForevermore on Etsy (Exact item here)

On their description, it says “Light your bookish candles in style.” I love that.

“I Ship Monty & Percy” pin – Value $2?

Sherlock Holmes inspired bookmark – Value $4?

Becoming Jane movie inspired bookmark from – Value $5 (Similar item from their shop here.)

Great Gatsby inspired quote magnet from – Value $3? (I can’t find a similar item in their shop.)

Jane Austen homemade soap by @omasfavorite – Value $6? (I can’t find the exact price on one bar of soap.)

This is my favorite item in the entire box! It made the box smell heavenly and I can’t wait to use it. I really love this!

Two packets of Twinnings tea – Value $1?

If every book subscription box I receive in the future has tea in it, I will be very happy.

The Verdict: This was such a “Rachel” box. I was ecstatic about so many of the items. The tea, the soap, and all the little useful extras. I loved it all.

I was also really happy with the book choice. I feel like sometimes book subscription boxes throw in whatever book they’re able to get cheaply in bulk. This book, however, is very popular right now and I’ve heard a lot about it. So I was so pleasantly surprised to see it in the box. Also, I love when boxes include a lot of homemade items made by small-business owners. This one was full of them. This is definitely a subscription I will be keeping.

By my rough estimation, the box’s contents are valued at $45.29. Not bad at all.

Note: This box was paid for by me. Nothing free, unfortunately. So my opinions are definitely my own.
